What is MODx? It's a free commercial content management software (CMS). However, why would I install it in the first place when:
- MODx is a bad deal for you when you're a user;
- MODx gives you no support at all;
- MODx gives you little or no documentation;
- Installing and using some OTHER content management software would be cheaper and better on the long run.
Credit
In all fairness we should give MODx some credit, if credit is due. Why? Because MODx is working on something. Because their programmers are working for free. And because their end product, the MODx source code, is yours for the taking. However, you should keep in mind that you get what you pay for. When the product is "free MODx", then there is nothing else that you'll ever receive. Which means no help, no support, no nothing. Is that what you want?The MODx advertisers

- No MODx support exists at good hosting companies;
- In the form of advertisers, MODx tends to attract hosting companies of dubious reputation that have more red flags than Red China. Do you want to hire one of them? (1)

- MODx has far more bugs than what they own up to;
- MODx has no quality standards, no code reviews, and not even first-class programmers. (1)

- The second-class programmers associated with MODx keep changing the MODx code; and
- If you install MODx, then, for security reasons, you must also keep changing the code. And
- You must drop everything else you're doing, and do all of these MODx code changes manually as well as immediately. (1)
