Prolactin, high (hyperprolactinemia)

What are the causes of ED (erectile dysfunction)? Your high prolactin hormone (hyperprolactinemia) is one of the causes of ED (erectile dysfunction). For the temporarily suppression of prolactin:
  • The usual remedy is Bromocriptine (Parlodel)®. However, it is (i) an overpriced drug with (ii) many side effects, such as nausea, fatigue, dizziness, vomiting and headaches; (iii) you need a prescription, however (iv) medical doctors prescribe it for women, not men.

  • One OTC remedy is vitamin B6, because it will lower your prolactin, if you take a relatively high dose (400 mg) of it every night, before bedtime. However, B6 will also give you vivid dreams, poor sleep, withdrawal symptoms, and a likely permanent damage to your nervous system.

  • One OTC remedy is the herb, Vitex Agnus Castus. If you take a large dose of it, it will lower your prolactin. However, it will also lower your testosterone levels.

  • One OTC remedy is the herb Mucuna Pruriens (a.k.a. velvet bean). It has been used in India for many centuries for Parkinson's disease. It elevates your dopamine levels, which inhibits your prolactin in hyperprolactinemia. Therefore Mucuna Pruriens will give you what you need: high testosterone levels as well as short-short male refractory periods.

  • One OTC remedy is the herb, ginkgo biloba. According to researchers in Hormones & Behavior (Horm Behav 2008 Jan;53(1):225-31) ginkgo biloba increases the dopamine levels in the brain, and dopamine inhibits the production of prolactin.
So, what are the causes of ED (erectile dysfunction)? Your high prolactin (hyperprolactinemia) is one of the causes of ED (erectile dysfunction).

Sleep deficit

What are the causes of ED (erectile dysfunction)? Your chronic sleep deficit is one of the causes of ED (erectile dysfunction).

Why? Because you make testosterone only while you're sleeping. You make no testosterone while you're awake. Therefore, if you accumulate a sleep deficit, your testosterone levels will be low, and you'll develop ED (erectile dysfunction).   ...More >>
